I hear this a lot... "I'm not a morning person."
Being a morning person is easy; Go to sleep earlier. Go to sleep extra early. Sleep for a day if you need to. When you wake up I guarantee you'll be a morning person. I am really serious. Sleep for a whole 24 hours if you feel you need a serious recharge. It's ok, you are allowed to sleep for that long. Challenge your beliefs, even the most solid ones. Instead of calling into work sick, call in and say you are re-energizing to prevent yourself from getting sick. This time when you wake up with the sun it will be because you want to. Your world may seem very different. You may have helped balance your system out. If you find yourself getting caught in the same cycle, then you probably just don't like what you're getting up for.
I can wake up at any time. Nothing is out of the question for me. At one point in my training, I woke up at 3am, did 30 minutes of yoga, then went to the gym with my friend to do an intense weight workout. Then I did demolition work. I loved it, I made some of the fastest strength gains ever during that time.
If you have insomnia, it could be a symptom of a serious condition. It's not something to be taken lightly. Weak adrenals, stress, obsessive thinking, and addictions could all be a part of not being able to sleep. Many other things need to be looked at including eating late, activities done before bed and the types of foods eaten daily.
There's really no such thing as a morning person. When you wake up to do something you enjoy, you become one... or you become a 3am person or, whatever you need to be temporarily. The best routines can become obstacles if you do them for too long. Switch it up.
